Is The Color Run a charity or a non-profit organization?
The Color Run is neither a charity nor a non-profit organization. The Color Run, LLC is a “for profit” event management company and our number one goal is to produce high quality events.
Do you help a charity or cause?
Yes, we do. We spread the word about the amazing work that our friends at Global Citizen do. Global Citizen gives Color Runners the opportunity to engage in global issues, make an impact in the world and be part of the movement that will end extreme poverty. Color Runners can join the Global Citizen movement! Sign up and take action today on Global Citizen.?
The Color Run also works with local organizations in various cities they host events in. The Color Run’s number one goal, as it relates to local charities, is to increase cause awareness. We want to help shine a light on important issues. We hope our Color Runners will spend time on the website of our partner charities, join mailing lists, attend other events hosted by the charity and become an advocate for these causes. We give our charity partners a microphone to speak to thousands of good hearted people.
Do you also donate money to charity?
The Color Run has donated more than $3 million to charity since their founding in 2012.
Each charity’s needs are a little different, and as a result each of our charity partners ask for our help in different ways. Here are a few ways The Color Run helps raise funds for our charity partners:
1) Post Race Donation. This is where we make a financial donation to our charity partner. This set amount is determined in communication with the charity and depends on the level of involvement/volunteers provided by the charity.
2) Embedded Giving. We provide our runners the opportunity to add a donation that goes directly to the charity during the registration process. Our charities are constantly overwhelmed by the kindness of our Color Runners.
3) Charity Registrations. In some cities, we provide the partner charity a limited number of charity registrations. The charity sells these registrations through their own website and keeps 100% of the listed price of the registration.
See below for an example of how our Philadelphia charity partner, Back on My Feet, used our charity registrations:
Is my registration fee tax deductible?
No. Your registration fee is not tax deductible. The only tax deductible portion would be if you made an additional donation directly to the charity during the registration process or bought the registration directly through the charity.
I work for an awesome charity! How can we be a part of this?

Quotes from our Charity Partners:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County:
“Wow! What an amazing opportunity for Big Brothers Big Sisters Orange County to create awareness about the power of mentorship through such a unique and fun experience such as The Color Run. In one day, we were able to gain exposure to thousands of potential volunteers thanks to The Color Run!”
Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City:
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the youth you are helping and all who are concerned with the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, I want to express our most sincere appreciation for inviting us to participate in “The Happiest 5K on the Planet”!
The complete process, from marketing the event to assisting in the Color Zone, was such a memorable experience for our staff and children. This event truly stands out from other 5Ks because of your unique “happy” powder, your generous give back component and the consistent support we received from your organization. You and your staff are professional, kind, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, which is the perfect recipe for a successful event! Our children are still talking about their experience and we hope to partner with you again in the future.
Thank you again for your support as we enable our children to reach their full potential by encouraging them to Graduate, Be Fit For Life and Ready to Lead.”
Speedway Children’s Charities:
“The Color Run is adding color into our everyday lives while creating rainbows in the lives of children. Thank you for your support of Speedway Children’s Charities!”
Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier:
“Nothing comes close to the excitement in Binghamton before, during and after The Color Run! Above and beyond the opportunity to raise funds, the real value was in partnering with The Color Run and our community to spread laughter and joy, especially to people who may not be seeing rainbows of color every day.”
“Partnering with The Color Run in 2013 was such a rewarding experience for HandsOn Jacksonville. Being selected as the charity of choice was an honor for us and supported the work that we do on a daily basis in our city. It gave our dedicated volunteers a fun and energetic way to be engaged and promoted health and wellness, a core value for our organization, in such a unique way. For our organization, for our volunteers and for our city; this partnership was a WIN for all!”
“The Color Run is by far the funnest, most unique, and exciting company we have ever gotten the chance to partner with. Their staff is absolutely phenomenal and working with the race director has been a blast. We consider ourselves lucky to be involved with such an amazing group of individuals.”
Cool Kids Campaign:
“Wow… might be the only word to summarize the experience Cool Kids Campaign had as the charity partner for The Color Run in Baltimore. What a perfect match for us. Our programs are focused on making life better for kids with cancer and the Color Run is ALL about being positive and happy. They included our cancer families in every part of the day and lived up to their promise of the happiest 5K on the planet. On the way home one of our 9 year old cancer patients said, ‘That was one of the best days of my life.’ Pretty much says it all.”
Maui United Way
“We loved working with the staff of The Color Run! It was the easiest and most fun experience we’ve ever had raising funds for Maui United Way…hope to do it again next year!”
Boys & Girls Clubs- Alaska:
“Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska was proud to be a charity partner for The Color Run – Anchorage in 2013. There were so many positives related to our involvement. For example, many of our staff and our good friends in the community volunteered. Over and over, we have heard comments like, “that was the best volunteer experience ever,” and ” that was so much fun!” For our staff, volunteering at The Color Run was a huge morale booster and team building experience. As a group of people that work with children all day – we appreciated that this event could move adults (whether running or volunteering) to laugh and play like children. The value of building positive public awareness is of utmost importance to the success of any non-profit, including Boys & Girls Club. We are thrilled with the media attention and increased public awareness we received as a partner to The Color Run! Top off those two positives with an unrestricted donation to support our mission and I can assure you that, if asked we will gladly be a part of this event for years to come.”
